Graduation
A tape measure and a minute: the right size for your wreath.

On graduation day, the photos with the laurel wreath last forever. A wreath that fits well simply looks better in every shot: it does not slip down your forehead, it does not pinch and it leaves you free to hug, laugh and throw your cap without a second thought. The good news is that taking the right measurement takes less than a minute, with things you already have at home. Here is how.
No soft tape measure? Use a piece of string, a ribbon or a strand of wool. Pass it around the same spot, mark with your fingers where it meets, then lay it along a ruler or a rigid tape measure and read the measurement. The result is the same.
A tip: in front of a mirror, or with someone's help, the reading is more accurate. And remember that hair makes a difference: if on graduation day you will have a voluminous blow-dry or your hair worn high, measure your head the way you plan to style it.
Every head has its own shape, but these ranges help you get your bearings before ordering.
| Circumference | How to choose |
|---|---|
| 54–56 cm | Small size, suited to smaller heads. If you are right in the middle, consider the next range up. |
| 56–58 cm | Medium size, the most common among adults. If in doubt, start here. |
| 58–60 cm | Comfortable size, suitable if you have voluminous hair or wear it up high, or if you prefer a looser fit. |
Measurements are indicative and may vary depending on the shape of the head and the hairstyle.
Between two ranges, it is better to go up. A slightly larger wreath can be adjusted in a moment with a hair grip or a small comb hidden in the hair, and stays comfortable all day. One that is too tight, on the other hand, marks the forehead, becomes uncomfortable after a few hours and risks spoiling the very photos you care about most. Fresh laurel also has a natural flexibility: half a centimetre extra goes unnoticed, a tight fit does not.
Emozioni's graduation wreaths in Turin are made by hand in our shop at Via Giambattista Pergolesi 9a, with fresh laurel woven by Raluca. You choose the ribbon in the colour you prefer and, on request, we add red berries, small roses or gypsophila. We adapt the size to you: if you give us the circumference when you order, we make the wreath to fit your head. We deliver the same day in Turin for orders by 12:30 (Turin time) and cover graduations at UniTo and the Politecnico; alternatively, you can collect from the shop.
If you are still choosing the style, read which flowers to put on the wreath and the meaning of the ribbon colours by faculty. And to make the memory last after the celebration, find out how to preserve the laurel wreath.
With a soft tape measure passed around the head, about a finger's width above the ears and across the middle of the forehead, snug but not tight. Read the centimetres where it meets. If you do not have a tape measure, use a piece of string and then measure it with a ruler.
Choose the larger range. A slightly larger wreath can be secured with a hair grip and stays comfortable all day, while one that is too tight is uncomfortable and marks the forehead.
Fresh laurel has a natural flexibility and adapts well to a small margin. If you give us the circumference when you order, we make the wreath to your measurement in the shop in Turin.
