    The Arabica coffee plant is one of the most popular tropical varieties, loved for its glossy, compact and decorative foliage. Grown in a ceramic cup with a “Coffee Arabica” design, it becomes an elegant and curious piece of decor, ideal as a gift or as a touch of green for the home.

    It is an easy plant to look after: it likes diffused light and needs moderate watering, keeping the soil slightly moist without standing water. In the right conditions it can grow over time and develop an increasingly full, glossy canopy.

    Light

    Give the Coffea arabica strong but filtered light, ideally in front of an east-facing window or a short distance from a south-facing one with a light curtain. Avoid direct midday sun, which scorches and yellows its glossy dark green leaves.

    Water

    Water when the top 2-3 cm of soil feels dry to the touch, usually once or twice a week in spring and summer and less in winter. Keep the soil cool and moist but never leave water in the saucer: standing water rots the roots, while prolonged dryness dries out the leaf edges.

    Environment

    Keep the Coffea arabica at 18-24°C, away from draughts and the dry heat of radiators, and never below 13°C. It likes good humidity: mist the leaves or stand the cup on a bed of wet expanded clay, and repot in spring every 1-2 years, as the decorative cup soon becomes too small.
